Nevada Motorcycle Shipping

Nevada has two places most carriers care about, Las Vegas in the south and Reno in the northwest, and hundreds of miles of empty desert between them. We provide up to ten free quotes from our network of licensed, insured carriers, which saves you time and money. That gap shapes everything. A bike going to Las Vegas rides in on a busy lane from Los Angeles or Phoenix, while one going to Elko or Ely waits for a driver who happens to be passing. If you want to ship a motorcycle to or from Nevada, the first thing to settle is which side of the state you mean. Nevada motorcycle shipping from the two big cities is routine, and everything else costs a little more time. Prices lower down are estimates. How to Ship a Motorcycle to Nevada, Vegas or Otherwise

Las Vegas is the easy one. It sits on I-15, the main road between Southern California and Salt Lake City, and carriers pass through all week. A pickup in California bound for Las Vegas is one of the fastest lanes on the map. Los Angeles to Las Vegas is about 270 miles, $325 to $450 on an open trailer, and the bike is usually on the road 1 to 3 days. The Las Vegas page has more on local pickups.

Reno works differently. It sits on I-80, so a bike from San Francisco or Sacramento comes over the Sierra, and one from Salt Lake City arrives across the northern desert. San Francisco to Reno is about 220 miles and the same $325 to $450. The catch is winter, when a storm over the pass can keep trucks parked on either side.

Then there is everyone else. Elko, Winnemucca, Pahrump and Ely are all real addresses that get real deliveries, but there are not many trailers going that way. Tell carriers the town name up front. Often the driver will ask to meet you in Reno or Las Vegas, and you will want to know that before you book.

Coming in from further away? Illinois to Nevada and Texas to Nevada are the long hauls carriers see most often.

Nevada Motorcycle Shipping Rates and Transit Times

Last updated: October 2026

Nevada's biggest lanes are short. A stock cruiser from Los Angeles to Las Vegas runs about $325 to $450 on an open trailer, and Phoenix to Las Vegas about $350 to $475. At 1,000 miles the going rate is about $500 to $675, and at 2,000 miles roughly $725 to $1,000. Per mile, longer trips are cheaper.

An enclosed trailer costs 30% to 50% more. A crate is $150 to $400 extra, a trike or sidecar $150 to $300, and a big touring bike usually $50 to $100. The lanes below are the ones Nevada riders use most. Days are on the road after pickup, and it can take another one to three days to line up the driver.

How Getting Quotes Works

You don't have to call company after company. One request goes out to the carriers that run Nevada lanes, and the offers come back to you.

1. Send one request

Fill out the quote form at the top of this page, or call 1-800-590-6492 any hour of the day. Give us your pickup and delivery cities, the year, make and model of your bike, and the date you want it picked up.

2. Carriers respond

We pass your request to carriers that move motorcycles in and out of Nevada. You can receive up to ten free quotes without spending hours calling companies one by one.

3. Compare the offers

Look at price, pickup date, and whether the carrier offers open or enclosed transport. You can check any company you're considering on the FMCSA SAFER system.

4. Choose your company

You pick the company you want to work with. Ask that company about its insurance coverage, deposit, and payment terms before you commit.

Shipping a Motorcycle From Nevada When You Live Out Past Vegas

Moving a bike out of Las Vegas is simple. Trailers load there and fan out in every direction. Las Vegas to Dallas is around 1,220 miles at $550 to $750 open, 3 to 6 days. Las Vegas to Chicago is about 1,745 miles, $650 to $925, and 4 to 8 days.

Reno to Salt Lake City is about 520 miles, $375 to $525, and 2 to 5 days. That one follows I-80 east through Winnemucca and Elko to Wendover, which is the whole width of the state.

If you live in a small town, the pickup is the hard part. The driver may not detour 100 miles for one bike, so you might be asked to bring it to a larger city or a lot on the highway. That is a fair trade for a lower price, but ask. A few carriers will drive out if the pay makes sense and a few will not.

Planning a ride through the California side or onward to Sturgis? Many riders ship the bike home after the rally and fly back instead.

Nevada Motorcycle Transport Across the Desert Gaps

Look at a map and you will see how little road there is. I-15 clips the southern tip for only about 124 miles, from Primm at the California line to Mesquite at Arizona, with Las Vegas in the middle. I-80 is the northern spine at roughly 410 miles, running through Reno and Sparks, Lovelock, Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, Elko, Wells and West Wendover.

There is no Interstate between the two cities. The direct way is US-95 north through Tonopah, Hawthorne and Fallon, which then connects to I-80 toward Reno. Either way it is a long day, and Las Vegas to Reno is priced at roughly $375 to $525 for about 445 miles.

East of Wells, I-80 crosses Pequop Summit at 6,967 feet, the highest point on the Nevada stretch. It is the highest point on I-80 between Parley's Summit in Utah and Donner Summit in California, and winter storms have closed stretches of I-80 across northern Nevada.

Motorcycle Shipping to Nevada by Season

Southern Nevada has two seasons for a rider, the good one and the hot one. Las Vegas averages highs above 100 degrees in July and August. Heat does not hurt a bike on a trailer, but it makes a black seat unpleasant to sit on, so many owners prefer a morning delivery.

Up north the pattern flips. Reno can get snow from October through April, and Donner Summit on the California side, one of the snowiest spots in the lower 48, can slow trucks coming from the Bay Area. A winter pickup in northern Nevada should get a few extra days of slack.

Fall and winter shipments are often cheaper outside the snowbird lanes. Peak weeks around rallies cost more, and in Nevada that mostly means the last week of September in Reno.

Reno, the Colorado River and the Nevada Rally Calendar

Street Vibrations is the big one. It runs in the last week of September, usually Wednesday through Sunday, with events in downtown Reno along what the city calls the Neon Line and in the old mining town of Virginia City. Carson City and Sparks get some of it too. Reno fills up fast.

The Colorado River town of Laughlin used to host the other big one, the Laughlin River Run, held at the end of April. It has not returned since the pandemic. These days the Mayhem Motorcycle Rally takes its place each late April in Bullhead City, Arizona, directly across the river from Laughlin.

If you are shipping a bike to either one, get quotes at least three weeks ahead. The Bullhead City trip is mostly an Arizona delivery, so the Nevada to Arizona lane is worth a look too.

Nevada Bases and Military Shipping

Nellis Air Force Base on the northeast side of the Las Vegas valley and Naval Air Station Fallon, east of Reno, bring in service members on orders. If that is you, ask for quotes the day you get a report date, and ask every carrier whether it has a military or multi-bike discount. Some do.

Nevada Shipping Snags and Smart Moves

The state is mostly empty, and the problems come from that.

Long Gaps Between Cities

Between Las Vegas and Reno, and between Reno and Wendover, there is little else. Small-town pickups often depend on a driver who is already nearby.

Winter Over the Sierra and Pequop Summit

Snow slows I-80 at both ends of Nevada's northern stretch. Expect delays from late fall to early spring.

Rally Weeks Fill Trailers

Around Street Vibrations in September, trailers get scarce and prices on busy lanes can go up.

Tip: Name Your Town Early

Say which town the bike is in when you ask for quotes. A pickup in Pahrump, Elko or Fallon may mean a meet-up in a bigger city.

Tip: Avoid Midday Heat

In summer, ask for a morning handoff in the south. Parked metal gets hot, and checking the bike over is easier before noon.

Tip: Strip the Bike

Take off bags, phone mounts and anything loose, and photograph all sides first. The prep guide lists what carriers usually want.

Nevada Motorcycle Shipping FAQs

What does it cost to ship a motorcycle to Nevada?

From Los Angeles to Las Vegas, about $325 to $450 on an open trailer. From Chicago to Las Vegas, about $650 to $925. Enclosed adds roughly 40%. Rally weeks and peak season can push the number up.

Is shipping between Las Vegas and Reno cheap?

Not especially. It is about 445 miles at roughly $375 to $525 on an open trailer, 1 to 3 days. There is no Interstate between the two cities, so ask each carrier how it plans to run it.

How long to ship a motorcycle from Nevada to the Midwest?

Las Vegas to Chicago is around 1,745 miles and takes 4 to 8 days on the road. Allow one to three more days for the pickup to be scheduled.

Will a carrier pick up in a small Nevada town?

Sometimes. Many drivers stay near I-15 and I-80 and will ask you to meet them in Las Vegas, Reno or Elko. Tell each carrier your town when you request quotes.

Can I ship a motorcycle for a Nevada rally?

Yes. Street Vibrations is held in Reno in the last week of September. The Laughlin River Run no longer runs, but its successor, the Mayhem Motorcycle Rally, is held in late April across the river in Bullhead City, Arizona. For either, ask for quotes about three weeks ahead and give a pickup range, not a single date.

Does snow affect shipping from Reno?

It can. Winter storms on I-80 over the Sierra and at Pequop Summit slow trucks. If you are moving the bike between November and March, build in a few spare days.

Do I have to be home for the handoff?

You or someone you name must be there to sign the inspection form when the driver arrives. Look the bike over before you sign, and again at delivery.

Open or enclosed for a Las Vegas delivery?

Open is fine for most bikes. Enclosed is worth the money for a custom paint job or a classic, mostly to keep road dust and summer sun off the bike for a few days.
