New Hampshire Motorcycle Shipping

Every June a rally that began at Weirs Beach in 1916 fills the roads around Laconia, and for about nine days it changes how trailers move in this state. We provide up to ten free quotes from our network of licensed, insured carriers, which saves you time and money. The rest of the year, bikes come and go along I-93 through Manchester and Concord, I-89 toward Vermont, and I-95 on the short seacoast. That mix makes New Hampshire motorcycle shipping seasonal in a way few states are. If you want to ship a motorcycle to or from New Hampshire in June, start early, and in the rest of the year you will find it quieter and often cheaper. The rates below are estimates for a standard bike. Use the quote form at the top of this page or call 1-800-590-6492 at any hour.

Ship a Motorcycle to New Hampshire Without Getting Caught in Rally Week

June decides a lot. If your bike is going to the Lakes Region in the middle of the month, assume trailers are booked and roads are slow. If it is going to Manchester, Nashua or Concord at any other time, the job is ordinary. Manchester and Concord are right on I-93, and Nashua is a short drive south of Manchester, so a carrier reaches all three without a detour.

Portsmouth is the odd one out. It is on the coast, close to I-95, and it is a short drive from the Maine line. If a carrier is already working a Maine pickup, Portsmouth is close to its route.

The White Mountains need patience. North of Concord, I-93 runs into the mountains, and the roads beyond are two-lane. Lincoln, Conway and the smaller towns around them can be tricky for a tractor-trailer in winter. If your address is in one of them, ask the carrier where it would like to meet.

Moving in from out of state? Check Florida to New Hampshire, Illinois to New Hampshire and New York to New Hampshire first. Someone has to be at the drop to sign the condition report, so name an adult if it can't be you.

New Hampshire Motorcycle Shipping Rates and Transit Times

Last updated: October 2026

Here is what an open carrier typically charges for a standard bike. About $275 to $400 for 50 miles (Portsmouth to Portland, Maine), about $375 to $525 for 500 miles, $450 to $600 for 750 miles, and $675 to $950 for the 1,855-mile run from Laconia to Sturgis. Rally week can push any of those higher.

Enclosed adds about 30% to 50%, a crate adds $150 to $400, and a trike or sidecar adds $150 to $300. Heavy touring bikes often add $50 to $100. The table covers lanes New Hampshire shippers ask about. Each price is for a standard bike on open transport. Days are on the road after pickup, with one to three more for scheduling.

How Getting Quotes Works

You don't have to call company after company. One request goes out to the carriers that run New Hampshire lanes, and the offers come back to you.

1. Send one request

Fill out the quote form at the top of this page, or call 1-800-590-6492 any hour of the day. Give us your pickup and delivery cities, the year, make and model of your bike, and the date you want it picked up.

2. Carriers respond

We pass your request to carriers that move motorcycles in and out of New Hampshire. You can receive up to ten free quotes without spending hours calling companies one by one.

3. Compare the offers

Look at price, pickup date, and whether the carrier offers open or enclosed transport. You can check any company you're considering on the FMCSA SAFER system.

4. Choose your company

You pick the company you want to work with. Ask that company about its insurance coverage, deposit, and payment terms before you commit.

Shipping a Motorcycle From New Hampshire, Rally Season and After

Going out is easiest at the edges of the season. Manchester to Orlando is about 1,315 miles and 3 to 6 days on the road, and Portsmouth to Norfolk is about 620 miles and 2 to 5 days. The New Hampshire to Florida lane stays busy in the fall.

The rally changes the picture in one way. Some bikes come in for Laconia Motorcycle Week by trailer, and they leave the same way. If you plan to ship a bike out in the days after the rally, book the way home when you book the way in. Don't leave it for the weekend you leave.

West is a long haul. Concord to Chicago is about 960 miles, 2 to 5 days. Laconia to Sturgis is about 1,855 miles, 4 to 8 days, and the New Hampshire to South Dakota run is one riders use for the Sturgis rally in August. Most carriers wait to fill a trailer on these lanes, so a window of a few days works better than a fixed date.

New Hampshire Motorcycle Transport From the Coast to the Notches

I-93 is the state's spine. It enters from Massachusetts at Salem, passes Manchester and Concord, and then heads north into the White Mountains. I-293 loops around Manchester. I-89 splits off at Bow, just south of Concord, and runs west toward Vermont, meeting I-91 at White River Junction. I-95 touches only the seacoast, around Portsmouth.

The Kancamagus Highway, NH 112, is about 32 miles from Lincoln to Conway and a favorite ride in September and October for fall color. It stays open in winter but sometimes closes briefly for snow. Carriers stick to interstates and main roads, so a pickup near it probably means meeting in Lincoln or Conway.

US Route 3 is the road to know in the Lakes Region. It runs through Laconia, Weirs Beach and Meredith, so in rally week plan on delay if your address is anywhere along it, and ask the carrier about a meeting point just outside town.

Motorcycle Shipping to New Hampshire by Season

The calendar is simple. Spring brings bikes north, June brings the rally, summer is the riding season, and fall sends bikes south. Winter snow in the White Mountains keeps most riders off the road, and the winter shipping market is the quietest.

That quiet is useful. Quotes outside the snowbird lanes often run lower in fall and winter, so a bike heading to the Midwest in January costs less than in June. Rally weeks and peak season cost more, so the June premium is real.

Winter weather can still get in the way. A snowstorm on I-93 can hold a trailer for a day, and mountain towns may need extra time. Give the carrier a window and keep the phone close. If you are planning to ship a bike to a cabin in the mountains for summer, do it in May rather than June, when trailers are tighter and prices run higher.

Laconia Motorcycle Week and the Lakes Region

Laconia Motorcycle Week is held every June and runs about nine days around Weirs Beach on Lake Winnipesaukee. It began in 1916 as a gathering of riders, got official recognition in 1923, and was once the largest annual motorcycle gathering in North America before Sturgis passed it in the 1970s.

The street scene is on Lakeside Avenue at Weirs Beach, with bike shows, swap meets and vendors. Racing is part of the story too. The Loudon Classic, which its organizers bill as the longest-running motorcycle race in America, is held during the week at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon.

For shipping, plan like this. Two to three weeks before the week, get quotes. Choose a meeting point away from the strip, such as a lot in Laconia or Meredith. Expect higher prices on busy lanes, and book the trip home when you book the trip in. The New Hampshire to Massachusetts and New York to New Hampshire hauls are the short ones.

Orders at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard

Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is across the Piscataqua River in Kittery, Maine, and it overhauls and repairs submarines, mainly the Navy's nuclear-powered fleet. Portsmouth, New Hampshire, is the nearest town on the other side. Get quotes as soon as you have a report date, since a move on orders leaves little slack and the better pickup slots go first. Ask each carrier whether it offers a military discount. Some do, and it costs nothing to ask.

New Hampshire Motorcycle Shipping Challenges and Tips

New Hampshire's problems are June traffic and mountain roads. Both have fixes.

Rally Week Crowds

Route 3 through Laconia, Weirs Beach and Meredith can be slow in rally week. Ask the carrier about meeting outside the busy stretch.

Mountain Weather

Snow in the White Mountains can stall a trailer or close a road for a day. Winter pickups need a wider window.

Two-Lane Last Miles

North of Concord the roads narrow quickly. A tractor-trailer may stop in Lincoln or Conway and ask you to come to it.

Tip: Book the Trip Home Too

If you ship a bike in for Laconia, line up the return when you book the arrival. Trailers fill after the rally as well as before.

Tip: Pick a Meeting Point Early

Choose a lot in Laconia or Meredith away from the strip and tell the carrier at booking.

Tip: Clear and Photograph the Bike

Take off bags and mounts, keep the tank near a quarter full, and take dated photos of every side. The prep guide has more.

New Hampshire Motorcycle Shipping FAQs

How far ahead should I book to ship a bike to Laconia Motorcycle Week?

Two to three weeks is a good target. The rally is held every June, carriers fill early, and prices run higher on busy lanes. Book the return trip at the same time.

What does it cost to ship a motorcycle from New Hampshire to Florida?

Manchester to Orlando is about 1,315 miles. A standard bike on an open carrier runs about $575 to $775, and enclosed about $800 to $1,075. Expect 3 to 6 days on the road after pickup.

Can a carrier deliver in the White Mountains?

Often to a nearby main road, not always to the door. Lincoln and Conway are the usual meeting points. Ask the carrier when you book, especially in winter.

What does it cost to send a bike from Laconia to Sturgis?

Laconia to Sturgis is about 1,855 miles. An open carrier runs about $675 to $950, and enclosed about $950 to $1,325. Plan on 4 to 8 days on the road. Sturgis weeks are busy, so book early.

Is winter a good time to ship from New Hampshire?

It can be. Prices outside the snowbird lanes often drop in fall and winter. Snow can delay a pickup by a day, so give the carrier a window.

Can I ship a bike from Portsmouth, NH, to Norfolk?

Yes. Portsmouth to Norfolk is about 620 miles, with an open carrier price of about $400 to $575. It usually takes 2 to 5 days on the road after pickup.

Do I need to be there at pickup?

You or an adult you name must be there. The driver has you sign a condition report at both ends, and you'll want to check the bike before you sign.

Can I leave saddlebags and gear on the bike?

Take them off. Carriers generally do not want loose items on the bike, and gear can shift or go missing on a trailer. Pack your helmet and soft luggage separately, and ship or carry them yourself.
