Massachusetts Motorcycle Shipping

Interstate 90 starts in Boston and runs about 138 miles west across the state, which tells you most of what you need to know about how bikes move in and out of Massachusetts. We provide up to ten free quotes from our network of licensed, insured carriers, which saves you time and money. I-93 carries traffic through downtown, I-95 and I-495 curve around the city, and I-91 runs the Pioneer Valley from Springfield north to Vermont. Most Massachusetts motorcycle shipping comes down to which part of the state you are in. If you need to ship a motorcycle to or from Massachusetts, a Worcester pickup is a very different job from a Cape Cod delivery or a farm road in the Berkshires. The rates below are estimates for a standard bike. Use the quote form at the top of this page or call 1-800-590-6492 at any hour.

Ship a Motorcycle to Massachusetts, From the Boston Grid to a Berkshire Back Road

Boston is usually the hardest drop in the state and Worcester the easiest. That sounds backwards, but a tractor-trailer has no business inside the Boston street grid, and the driver would rather meet you at a lot just off I-93 or I-95 than spend an hour finding a legal place to stop. Plan on a meeting point, and pick a wide one: a big-box store or a self-storage lot, not a side street.

Worcester is where I-290 and I-190 meet, with the Pike a few miles south at Auburn, so carriers are already passing. Springfield is on the same footing, with I-91 crossing the Pike at West Springfield. Both are quick to schedule.

The Cape needs its own thought. Everything on or off the Cape goes over the Bourne or Sagamore bridge, and summer weekend traffic over them is heavy. Book for a weekday, and expect the driver to stop short of the village roads.

Moving in from out of state? Florida to Massachusetts, California to Massachusetts and New York to Massachusetts are the lanes to price first. That part is outside what a carrier can help with.

Massachusetts Motorcycle Shipping Rates and Transit Times

Last updated: October 2026

Short New England hops are cheap. A standard bike on an open carrier costs about $300 to $400 for a 110-mile run like Boston to Portland, Maine, and about $375 to $525 at 500 miles. At 2,000 miles the open price climbs to about $725 to $1,000, which is under twice the 500-mile price for four times the distance.

Going enclosed raises the price by roughly 30% to 50%. Crating costs $150 to $400 extra, a trike or sidecar $150 to $300, and a heavy tourer such as a Gold Wing often $50 to $100. Below are Massachusetts lanes people ask about. Each price is for a standard bike on an open trailer, and the days are on the road after pickup. Scheduling adds one to three more.

How Getting Quotes Works

You don't have to call company after company. One request goes out to the carriers that run Massachusetts lanes, and the offers come back to you.

1. Send one request

Fill out the quote form at the top of this page, or call 1-800-590-6492 any hour of the day. Give us your pickup and delivery cities, the year, make and model of your bike, and the date you want it picked up.

2. Carriers respond

We pass your request to carriers that move motorcycles in and out of Massachusetts. You can receive up to ten free quotes without spending hours calling companies one by one.

3. Compare the offers

Look at price, pickup date, and whether the carrier offers open or enclosed transport. You can check any company you're considering on the FMCSA SAFER system.

4. Choose your company

You pick the company you want to work with. Ask that company about its insurance coverage, deposit, and payment terms before you commit.

Shipping a Motorcycle From Massachusetts, East to West and North to South

Start with where the bike is. From the Boston area you go out on I-95 toward the south, or on I-90 west. From Worcester or Springfield, I-90 and I-91 are right there. Boston to Miami is about 1,490 miles, and the quote table gives 3 to 6 days on the road. Boston to Houston is about 1,845 miles and 4 to 8 days.

West is a longer commitment. Worcester to Denver is about 1,930 miles and 4 to 8 days, and Los Angeles-bound bikes run closer to 3,000 miles and 7 to 10 days. Carriers working those lanes wait for a full trailer, so a pickup window of several days beats a fixed date.

North is short. Boston to Portland, Maine, is about 110 miles. The Massachusetts to Maine and Massachusetts to New Hampshire lanes are hops that usually cost near the bottom of the price range.

A ride to Sturgis from Boston is about 1,900 miles. Some riders ship the bike out and fly, then ride home.

Massachusetts Motorcycle Transport on the Pike, I-93 and I-495

The Massachusetts Turnpike is I-90, about 138 miles from Boston to the New York line, and it is the spine. It meets I-290 at Auburn, just south of Worcester, I-495 farther east, and I-91 at West Springfield. I-93 is the Boston route north and south: it runs a little under 50 miles in the state and passes under downtown in the O'Neill Tunnel.

I-95 is the road toward Providence and, going north, toward New Hampshire. I-495 is a second ring, around 122 miles long, which helps a driver skirt the city. I-290 runs about 20 miles from the Pike at Auburn, through Worcester, to Marlborough.

West of the Pioneer Valley is a different state. Route 2, the Mohawk Trail, climbs to Whitcomb Summit and its hairpin turn above North Adams. A rider will love it; a driver with a trailer will use the Pike instead. If you live in the Berkshires, plan to meet along I-90 or a main US route.

Motorcycle Shipping to Massachusetts by Season

Snow rules the calendar. Many Massachusetts riders put the bike away for winter and pull it out in spring, and traffic follows. The fall rush runs south to Florida and the Carolinas, and the spring rush comes back.

Quotes outside the snowbird lanes often drop from fall through winter, so a bike bound for Chicago in January costs less than one bound there in June. Snow may add a day to a pickup. The Cape is busiest in summer.

Peak season usually pushes a quote up. If the bike is going to the Cape for the summer, ask in early spring and keep the date flexible by a few days. A bike that sits in a Cape garage all winter is also worth a look for battery and fuel before it goes on a trailer.

Rallies and Rides Near Massachusetts

The biggest rally near Massachusetts is just over the line. Laconia Motorcycle Week runs for nine days each June at Weirs Beach, New Hampshire, a place riders have gathered since 1916. It sits north of Boston, across the New Hampshire line.

Plenty of riders just ride up. If the bike has to go by trailer, the Massachusetts to New Hampshire haul is short. In rally week prices run higher, and trailers fill early, so book two to three weeks ahead.

Farther out, bikes leave for Daytona for Bike Week, which runs from late February into early March, and for Sturgis in August. And in October, Biketoberfest draws southbound traffic that overlaps with the snowbird rush.

Orders Through Hanscom and Westover

Hanscom Air Force Base near Bedford and Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee are two installations that send people through the state on orders. A move on orders usually leaves little room, so get quotes the day you have a report date and expect the best pickup slots to go early. A move from the Pioneer Valley to the Boston area is short, and one to a base in the South is a long haul. Ask each carrier whether it offers a military discount. Some do, and it takes one question to find out.

Massachusetts Motorcycle Shipping Challenges and Tips

Three Massachusetts quirks slow a shipment. Three habits get around them.

Boston Streets

Narrow one-way streets and tight parking rule out a full-size trailer. The driver will ask to meet at a big lot on the edge of the city.

The Cape Bridges

Summer traffic over the Bourne and Sagamore bridges is heavy, and weekends are the worst. A weekday delivery avoids most of it.

Winter in the Hills

Snow can push a pickup a day or two. Give the carrier a wider window in December through March.

Tip: Choose a Lot Before You Book

A supermarket or a self-storage yard near I-93 or I-95 is better than the curb outside your door. Name it when you ask for quotes.

Tip: Book the Cape Early

For a summer home on the Cape, ask for quotes as soon as you know the date, and take a weekday slot.

Tip: Document the Condition

Photograph all sides with the date showing and clear off bags and mounts. The prep checklist covers the rest.

Massachusetts Motorcycle Shipping FAQs

What does it cost to ship a motorcycle from Boston to Florida?

Boston to Miami is about 1,490 miles. A standard bike on an open carrier runs about $600 to $825, and enclosed about $850 to $1,150. Expect 3 to 6 days on the road after pickup, plus a day or two for scheduling.

Can a truck deliver to a Boston address?

Usually not to the door. The streets are too tight for a tractor-trailer, so the driver will ask to meet at a large lot nearby. Pick the spot yourself and tell the carrier when you book.

Is delivery to Cape Cod harder than elsewhere in the state?

A little. Every trip crosses the Bourne or Sagamore bridge, and summer traffic there is heavy. Ask for a weekday delivery and allow extra time.

How long does it take to ship from California to Massachusetts?

Los Angeles to Worcester is about 2,940 miles. A standard bike on an open carrier runs about $925 to $1,275 and takes 7 to 10 days on the road. Add a few days for pickup scheduling.

Do carriers use the Mohawk Trail?

Rarely. The Mohawk Trail climbs to Whitcomb Summit with a hairpin turn above North Adams, so a driver with a trailer will usually take the Mass Pike instead. If you live in the Berkshires, meet the driver on I-90 or a main US route.

Does winter delay motorcycle shipping in Massachusetts?

Snow can push a pickup back a day or two. Prices are often lower outside the snowbird lanes, so winter can be a good time to move a bike.

I am stationed at Hanscom. When should I ask for quotes?

As soon as you have a report date. Orders give short windows. Ask each carrier whether it offers a military discount.

Should I choose open or enclosed for a Massachusetts winter?

Open handles most bikes. If the bike will cross salted roads in January, enclosed costs roughly 40% more, but it keeps spray off the paint and chrome.
