California to Oklahoma Motorcycle Shipping Rates by Bike Type
A standard cruiser or sport bike from Los Angeles to Oklahoma City runs about $575 to $775 on an open carrier, and about $800 to $1,075 enclosed. San Diego comes in at about $575 to $800 open, and a San Francisco pickup runs about $625 to $875.
Tulsa is about 105 miles northeast of Oklahoma City on I-44, and Los Angeles to Tulsa runs about $575 to $825 open. Lawton, home of Fort Sill, runs about $575 to $775. It sits off the Oklahoma City to Dallas path, so a driver has to plan the extra leg. Name it when you request quotes.
Plan on $50 to $100 more for a loaded tourer and $150 to $300 more for a trike or sidecar. A dead bike needs a winch, so tell the dispatcher before pickup.
Spring needs planning because severe storms and tornadoes run mostly from April through June, and a storm line can hold a trailer overnight. Hail is the main worry for an open bike. Summer is hot, and a black seat on an open trailer can burn. Fall is a good time to book. See our money-saving tips for more.

I-40, I-35 and Old Route 66
Oklahoma City is the hub. I-40 passes just south of downtown, I-35 runs through the city north and south, and I-44 comes in from Lawton and leaves northeast for Tulsa. I-40 and I-35 meet at the Dallas Junction interchange and run together for about two miles. For a driver coming from California, that makes it the easiest drop in the state.
West of Oklahoma City, I-40 replaced most of U.S. Route 66 and still follows it closely. Sayre, Elk City, Clinton and El Reno sit on business loops of the old road. East of the city, I-44 bypasses Route 66 as a toll road, with the Turner Turnpike linking Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
Tulsa is the first big Oklahoma stop for bikes coming from the Missouri side, and a carrier may cover both cities on one pass. Lawton sits on I-44 southwest of Oklahoma City.
A trailer will not take the Talimena Scenic Drive, which follows State Highway 1 for 54 miles from Talihina to Mena, Arkansas, with grades of 13% or more. If your address is in the Winding Stair Mountains, expect to meet the driver on a US highway in the valley.

4. Choose your company
You pick the company you want to work with. Ask that company about its insurance coverage, deposit, and payment terms before you commit.
How Your Motorcycle Is Loaded and Secured for the Trip
A good driver loads a motorcycle upright. The front wheel goes into a chock so it can't move, and soft straps go around solid points like the frame or the lower triple clamp. The straps are tightened enough to hold the bike but not so much that they bottom out the forks. Hooks stay off your bars, levers and paint.
Enclosed trailers add a roof and walls, which is worth pricing for hail season and for fresh paint or a high-value bike. Open carriers are the standard choice and suit most bikes. Before the bike goes on the trailer, go over it with the driver and check the condition report. Your photos and that report are what you compare against in Oklahoma.
California to Oklahoma Motorcycle Shipping Challenges & Tips
Oklahoma weather is the main thing to plan around, followed by the hills in the east.
Tornado and Hail Season
Storm lines from April through June can hold trucks overnight and put hail on an open trailer. Keep dates loose.
Winter Ice
Winter storms can leave I-40 and I-44 slick, and drivers may wait until crews have treated the roads.
Mountain and Back-Road Addresses
Roads in the Ouachitas and in rural areas can be too steep or tight for a rig. Expect to meet the driver on a highway.
Tip: Riding Route 66 or the Talimena?
Route 66 enters Oklahoma from Texas near Texola and leaves into Kansas, and the Talimena runs from Talihina to Mena. Some riders ship a bike to one end and ride to the other. If you plan a one-way trip, ask carriers about delivery to a motel or storage lot near your finish point.
Tip: Moving to Fort Sill or Tinker?
Fort Sill is next to Lawton, Tinker Air Force Base is in Oklahoma City, Vance is in Enid and Altus is in Altus. Orders can leave little time, so request quotes as soon as you have a report date, and ask each carrier about a military discount.
Tip: Prepare Your Motorcycle
Wash the bike, clear off anything that clips on, and keep the tank near a quarter. Turn the alarm off and photograph every angle with the date. Say if you are in Lawton, since it is off the usual path. Our guide to preparing a motorcycle for transport has the full checklist.
California to Oklahoma Motorcycle Shipping Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to ship a motorcycle from California to Oklahoma?
Most California to Oklahoma shipments take 3-6 days once the bike is on the truck. Add a few days for pickup scheduling, and more in a spring storm or winter ice.
How much does it cost to ship a motorcycle to Oklahoma from California?
A standard cruiser or sport bike from Los Angeles to Oklahoma City runs about $575 to $775 on an open carrier and about $800 to $1,075 enclosed. From San Francisco the open range is about $625 to $875. Real prices depend on your bike, dates and cities.
Is open or enclosed transport better for this route?
Open suits most bikes. Enclosed is worth pricing for a classic, new paint or a bike headed to a show, and against hail in spring. The extra cost is roughly $225 to $300.
Which Oklahoma cities do carriers deliver to?
Oklahoma City is the easiest, and Tulsa and Norman are close behind. Lawton is a military town on I-44 that needs a planned leg, so name it in your request.
Is Lawton harder to reach than Oklahoma City?
A little. Lawton is off the Oklahoma City to Dallas path, so the driver has to plan the extra leg. Carriers know it well because of Fort Sill.
How should I prepare my motorcycle for shipping from California to Oklahoma?
Clean the bike, remove loose accessories and run the tank down to a quarter or less. Dated photos from all sides help, and the dispatcher should hear about leaks or a non-runner.
Should I ride my motorcycle from California to Oklahoma or ship it?
The ride is about 1,330 miles from Los Angeles to Oklahoma City, about three long days for most riders. Add fuel, lodging and tires and a shipping quote comes out close.
Do I need to crate my motorcycle for this trip?
Most riders skip it. Open and enclosed trailers carry bikes to Oklahoma every week without crates. A crate costs roughly $150 to $400 and makes sense for show-quality bikes. Ask when you request quotes.
Is door-to-door motorcycle delivery available from California to Oklahoma?
In most cases, yes. In the Ouachita hills or on a rural road, the driver may ask you to meet at a lot near a highway.
Can I call for a quote at any hour?
Yes. You can call 1-800-590-6492 whenever it suits you, or send the quote form and compare up to ten offers.
