Ship a Motorcycle to Mississippi, Town by Town
Start with where the road goes. Jackson is the easy one, because I-20 and I-55 meet there in a tangle locals call the Stack, and a carrier coming from Memphis, Dallas or Atlanta passes close by. On the Gulf, I-10 serves Gulfport and Biloxi, and the short I-110 spur runs into Biloxi. The coast is a short run from New Orleans or Mobile.
The north needs a different approach. Southaven, just south of the Tennessee line on I-55, is part of the Greater Memphis area, and Tupelo sits just south of I-22, the road toward Birmingham.
Mississippi is rural, and that is where problems start. A gravel drive or a county road with soft shoulders can defeat a loaded trailer. Ask a feed store, a church or a small-town lot if the driver can meet you there. Walk the bike around with them before you sign anything.
From out of state, Illinois to Mississippi, Texas to Mississippi and Georgia to Mississippi are the lanes with the most traffic.
Mississippi Motorcycle Shipping Rates and Transit Times
Last updated: October 2026
Mississippi lanes tend to be short or medium. A standard bike on an open trailer runs about $325 to $450 for around 250 miles, and about $375 to $525 for 500 miles. For 1,000 miles you are looking at about $500 to $675 with 3 to 6 days on the road, and a 2,000-mile haul to the West Coast is about $725 to $1,000 over 6 to 9 days. Prices fall per mile as the distance grows.
Enclosed transport runs 30% to 50% higher. A crate adds $150 to $400, a trike or sidecar $150 to $300, and a heavy tourer like a Gold Wing about $50 to $100. The rows below are open-trailer estimates for a standard bike, with days counted from pickup. Plan for one to three more days to schedule the pickup itself.

How Getting Quotes Works
You don't have to call company after company. One request goes out to the carriers that run Mississippi lanes, and the offers come back to you.
1. Send one request
Fill out the quote form at the top of this page, or call 1-800-590-6492 any hour of the day. Give us your pickup and delivery cities, the year, make and model of your bike, and the date you want it picked up.
2. Carriers respond
We pass your request to carriers that move motorcycles in and out of Mississippi. You can receive up to ten free quotes without spending hours calling companies one by one.
3. Compare the offers
Look at price, pickup date, and whether the carrier offers open or enclosed transport. You can check any company you're considering on the FMCSA SAFER system.
4. Choose your company
You pick the company you want to work with. Ask that company about its insurance coverage, deposit, and payment terms before you commit.
Shipping a Motorcycle From Mississippi to the Rest of the Map
West is the common direction. Jackson to Dallas is about 405 miles on I-20, and a standard bike on an open trailer costs about $350 to $500 with 1 to 3 days on the road. Hattiesburg to Houston is the same distance and the same price range.
Going east or north works the same way. Gulfport to Atlanta, about 400 miles, runs $350 to $500. Tupelo to Chicago, about 590 miles, is $400 to $550 and 2 to 5 days. A bike going to New York is a 3 to 6 day haul of around 1,200 miles from Jackson. The Mississippi to Texas and Mississippi to Florida lanes are the ones to check first.
Gulf Coast owners who winter in Mississippi and summer up north often ship the bike one way. If that sounds like you, request quotes in early spring and again in fall, since both seasons get crowded.
Mississippi Motorcycle Transport on I-55, I-20 and the Natchez Trace
I-55 is 290 miles long in Mississippi and runs from the Louisiana line through Jackson up to Southaven. I-20 covers 154 miles, from Vicksburg on the Mississippi River through Jackson to Meridian and on to the Alabama line, where it picks up I-59 near Kewanee. I-59 itself is 169 miles in the state and heads southwest through Hattiesburg to the Louisiana line, on its way to Slidell.
I-22 runs 106 miles across the northeast, and it is the road for Tupelo and Birmingham. I-10 in Mississippi is only 77 miles, but it is the whole Gulf Coast story, with Gulfport and Biloxi on it.
One road you will not see a carrier on is the Natchez Trace Parkway, which runs 444 miles from Natchez to the Nashville area and bans commercial traffic along the entire route. Its speed limit is 50 mph, lower in a few places. If your house is near it, the driver will meet you on a nearby highway.
That ban is also an opportunity. Some riders ship a bike to Natchez or Jackson, ride the Trace north and ship it home from the Tennessee end.
Motorcycle Shipping to Mississippi by Season
The Gulf is the trouble spot. Hurricane season runs June through November, and when a storm heads for Gulfport or Biloxi, trailers can be held back and roads can close. If you are planning a coastal delivery, give yourself a week of slack, more in late summer.
Inland, the weather is easier. Winters are mild, though ice, mostly in the north, can make roads bad for a day or two. Summers are hot and humid. A bike on an open trailer takes the heat without harm, but the seat will be hot, and a cover is worth the few dollars.
Spring and fall are the best times to ship. Roads are clear, and riding is good, so more people want their bikes moved. Quotes sit higher then, and outside the snowbird lanes they tend to be lower in winter.
Gulfport Drag Races and Other Riding Weekends
The Memorial Day Blowout at Gulfport Dragway is a long-running motorcycle weekend. The Asgard Motorcycle Club runs it each May over Memorial Day weekend. The 2026 event was its 43rd year.
Gulfport is the delivery city for it. Book two to three weeks ahead, because trailers for coastal addresses fill in rally weeks and prices can rise on busy lanes. Be flexible on the pickup date, and ask each carrier what it charges for holiday weekends.
Outside that weekend, the Natchez Trace is the draw for touring bikes, and a bike shipped in for a trip should have a pickup window of a few days, not one fixed date.
Keesler, Camp Shelby and Military Moves in Mississippi
Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi runs technical training and hosts the 81st Training Wing, so people arrive and leave all year. Camp Shelby, south of Hattiesburg, is a large National Guard training site used by units from several states. Columbus Air Force Base in Columbus and the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport add more moves. Ask for quotes as soon as you have orders, and ask each carrier whether it has a military or multi-bike discount.
Mississippi Motorcycle Shipping Challenges and Tips
Mississippi problems are rural roads and Gulf weather. Both are manageable with a bit of notice.
Rural Addresses
Gravel drives and county roads can be too soft or tight for a loaded trailer. Plan a meeting spot on a state highway.
Gulf Storms
A hurricane aimed at Gulfport or Biloxi can close roads and park trailers for days. The peak of the season is around mid-September.
No Natchez Trace Pickups
Commercial traffic is banned on the whole parkway. Anyone who lives along it will meet the driver on a nearby road.
Tip: Name Your Highway
Tell each carrier which of I-55, I-20, I-59, I-22 or I-10 is closest to you. A driver can price a pickup faster when the road is clear.
Tip: Book Early for Gulfport in May
Memorial Day weekend at the dragway fills coastal trailers. Request quotes two to three weeks ahead.
Tip: Ride the Trace One Way
If you want to ride the Natchez Trace, ship the bike to one end and home from the other. Quote both legs together.
Mississippi Motorcycle Shipping FAQs
How much does it cost to ship a motorcycle to Mississippi?
A 250-mile trip is about $325 to $450 on an open trailer. A 500-mile trip is $375 to $525, and 1,000 miles runs $500 to $675. Enclosed adds roughly 40%. Your quote depends on the cities, the bike and the season.
How long does it take to ship a motorcycle from Chicago to Gulfport?
Chicago to Gulfport is about 900 miles and takes 2 to 5 days on the road. Add a day or two for pickup scheduling, so plan on about a week door to door.
Can a carrier deliver to a small town in Mississippi?
Usually to the nearest main highway or town. If your road is gravel or very narrow, expect to meet the driver at a store or church lot. Say so when you ask for quotes.
Will hurricane season delay my shipment to Biloxi?
It can. Hurricane season runs June through November, and a storm near the Gulf Coast can hold trailers back for days. Give yourself extra time for coastal pickups and deliveries.
Can I ship a bike to Southaven or Tupelo?
Yes. Southaven is on I-55 near Memphis, and Tupelo is just south of I-22. Memphis to Tupelo is about 100 miles.
Is the Natchez Trace Parkway open to trucks?
No. Commercial traffic is prohibited along the entire route, so carriers cannot use it. If you plan to ride it, ship the bike to one end and home from the other.
Do I need to be there for pickup and delivery?
Someone does. You or an adult you name signs the inspection report at both ends. Look over the bike with the driver and take photos before it leaves.
Should I choose open or enclosed for Mississippi?
Open is fine for most bikes and costs less. Enclosed is worth it for a classic, a custom paint job or any bike you do not want in Gulf rain and humidity for several days.
