Arizona to Kentucky Motorcycle Shipping Rates by Bike Type
A standard cruiser or sport bike from Phoenix to Louisville costs about $650 to $900 on an open carrier, or about $900 to $1,250 enclosed. From Tucson the open range is near $650 to $900. Lexington adds a little distance and lands near $675 to $925.
The miles drive the price on a lane this long, but the Kentucky end can nudge it. Louisville and Lexington are served by many trucks, so a bike there is easy to place, and a hollow in the eastern hills is not.
Heavier bikes carry a surcharge of about $50 to $100, and trikes and sidecars about $150 to $300. A bike that will not run needs to be winched on, so let the dispatcher know.
Dates matter more than you might expect. Kentucky riders pull bikes out of storage in spring, and Arizona trailers fill up in April, so those weeks cost more. Booking three weeks out and leaving the pickup window open is the simplest way to save. You will find more ideas for a lower price in our money-saving tips.

East Across the Mississippi to Kentucky
Three interstates cover most Kentucky deliveries. I-65 cuts about 137 miles through the state, past Bowling Green, Elizabethtown and Louisville. I-64 runs about 191 miles from the Indiana line at Louisville east through Lexington to the West Virginia line near Ashland, and I-75 runs about 192 miles north and south through Lexington to Covington.
Covington sits across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, so northern Kentucky deliveries often run through the Cincinnati area. If you live in Florence or Fort Mitchell, say so when you ask for quotes.
Parkways serve the rest. The Bluegrass Parkway is 71.1 miles from Elizabethtown to Lexington and the Mountain Parkway is 43.1 miles into the hills of Eastern Kentucky. Beyond those, roads narrow, and the Nada Tunnel on KY-77 near the Red River Gorge is about 900 feet long and one lane wide.
The practical advice for the hills is to meet the driver at a lot on the nearest parkway or US highway rather than at a house up a hollow.

How Your Motorcycle Is Loaded and Secured for the Trip
A good driver loads a motorcycle upright. The front wheel goes into a chock so it can't move, and soft straps go around solid points like the frame or the lower triple clamp. The straps are tightened enough to hold the bike but not so much that they bottom out the forks. Hooks stay off your bars, levers and paint.
Enclosed trailers add a roof and walls, and a long trip east takes a bike through heat, dust and Ohio Valley storms. Owners of custom paint and vintage bikes often pick enclosed for exactly that reason. Read through the condition report with the driver before the straps go on, and keep your own dated photos. You will want both in Kentucky.
Arizona to Kentucky Motorcycle Shipping Challenges & Tips
Kentucky is easy to reach along the main interstates and slower in the hills.
Eastern Kentucky Roads
Narrow, winding roads and some tight tunnels keep a full-size trailer out. Plan on meeting the driver at a lot on a parkway or highway.
Ice and Snow
Ice can close the hills for a day or two in winter, and trucks may need extra time on I-64 and I-75.
Spring Storms
Severe thunderstorms are common in spring. A new or custom bike may be better off enclosed.
Tip: Going to the Kentucky Bike Rally?
The Kentucky Bike Rally in Morganfield is held in July. Rally weekends bring more riders and tighter trailer space, so request quotes about a month ahead.
Tip: Reporting to Fort Knox or Fort Campbell?
Fort Knox is about 34 miles south of Louisville and Fort Campbell is home to the 101st Airborne Division. Ask carriers about a military discount and whether they will deliver to the gate or a lot nearby.
Tip: Prepare Your Motorcycle
Start with a washed bike, remove soft bags, GPS units and phone mounts, and keep about a quarter tank. Turn off the alarm, take dated photos from every angle, and note any leaks. For a hill or hollow address, name the nearest main road and be ready to meet the driver there. Our preparation guide goes through the full list.
Arizona to Kentucky Motorcycle Shipping Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to ship a motorcycle from Arizona to Kentucky?
Most Arizona to Kentucky shipments take 4-8 days once the bike is on the truck. Scheduling adds a few days, so plan on one to two weeks from booking to delivery.
How much does it cost to ship a motorcycle to Kentucky from Arizona?
A standard cruiser or sport bike from Phoenix to Louisville runs about $650 to $900 on an open carrier and about $900 to $1,250 enclosed. Real prices depend on your bike, dates and cities.
Is open or enclosed transport better for this route?
Open is fine for most bikes. Enclosed makes sense for fresh paint, a high-value bike or winter weather in the hills. The extra cost is roughly $250 to $350.
Which Kentucky cities do carriers deliver to?
Louisville, Lexington, Covington and Bowling Green see the most bikes. Smaller and eastern towns are served too, usually with a meeting point on a main road.
Is shipping to northern Kentucky the same as shipping to Cincinnati?
Close, but not identical. Covington and nearby towns are in Kentucky and sit across the river from Cincinnati, so carriers often route both through the same area. Ask for a quote to your exact address.
How should I prepare my motorcycle for shipping from Arizona?
Wash it, strip off anything that could work loose, and aim for a quarter tank. Date your photos of every side and flag any leak or a bike that will not start.
Should I ride my motorcycle from Arizona to Kentucky or ship it?
The ride is about 1,715 miles from Phoenix to Louisville, which most riders cover in three long days. Expect to pay for fuel, hotels and tire wear. If you only need the bike in Kentucky, shipping it and flying makes sense.
Do I need to crate my motorcycle for this trip?
Rarely. Bikes reach Kentucky strapped on open trailers or loaded in enclosed ones, with no crate involved. A crate runs roughly $150 to $400, so save it for show bikes.
Is door-to-door motorcycle delivery available from Arizona to Kentucky?
Usually. Arizona pickups are simple. In eastern Kentucky, a hill road often means meeting the driver at a lot on a parkway or highway.
Can I call for a quote at any hour?
Yes, always. You can reach 1-800-590-6492 or use the form to compare up to ten carriers.
