Arizona to North Carolina Motorcycle Shipping Rates by Bike Type
A standard cruiser or sport bike from Phoenix to Raleigh costs about $750 to $1,050 on an open carrier, or about $1,050 to $1,475 enclosed.
Mileage sets most of the price. The Piedmont cities sit on busy interstates, so trucks reach them easily, while mountain and coastal towns can take longer to schedule.
Tourers on the heavy side cost about $50 to $100 more. A trike or sidecar adds roughly $150 to $300. If the bike will not start, say so first, because a winch is needed.
Season changes the price on both ends. Spring is the busiest time for Arizona departures, and hurricane season can raise prices and delay loading on the North Carolina coast. Book three weeks ahead and keep your pickup dates loose. More ways to bring the price down are in our money-saving tips.

I-85, I-40 and the Mountain Roads
I-85 covers 231 miles across the state, through Charlotte, Greensboro and Durham on its way to Virginia. Near Greensboro, I-40 shares the road for about 31 miles until the two split near Hillsborough, where Raleigh-bound traffic leaves. I-77 heads north from Charlotte, and I-95 runs through the east toward Fayetteville.
In the Piedmont, interstates run through Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh and Durham, so a driver can reach most addresses within a few miles of the highway. The mountains take more effort. Asheville is reached by I-40 and I-26, but roads out of the city climb quickly, and a long trailer does not fit on all of them.
Near the coast, drivers often choose a lot by the highway over a narrow beach street, so suggest one if you live around Wilmington or the Outer Banks.
The roads riders come for are not carrier routes. The Blue Ridge Parkway runs 469 miles from Virginia to Cherokee with a 45 mph cap, and commercial vehicles need National Park Service approval to use it. The Tail of the Dragon packs 318 curves into 11 miles of US-129 at Deals Gap on the Tennessee line. A pickup near either one is handled on a regular highway, normally in the nearest town.

How Your Motorcycle Is Loaded and Secured for the Trip
A good driver loads a motorcycle upright. The front wheel goes into a chock so it can't move, and soft straps go around solid points like the frame or the lower triple clamp. The straps are tightened enough to hold the bike but not so much that they bottom out the forks. Hooks stay off your bars, levers and paint.
Enclosed trailers add a roof and walls, and a trip from the desert to the Southeast takes a bike through heat, storms and humidity. Owners of custom paint and vintage bikes often pick enclosed for exactly that reason. Before loading, check the bike against the condition report and take your own dated photos. Hold on to both until the bike is delivered in North Carolina.
Arizona to North Carolina Motorcycle Shipping Challenges & Tips
North Carolina is easy in the Piedmont and slower at the edges.
Mountain Ice
Winter ice can close a mountain road for a day, and high sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway are often closed from late fall through early spring.
Hurricane Season
The season runs June through November and peaks from late August through September. A storm near Wilmington or the Outer Banks can close roads and stop loading.
Hill and Hollow Roads
Roads out of Asheville climb fast, and a long trailer does not fit on every one. Expect a handoff at a lot in town.
Tip: Shipping for the Parkway or the Dragon?
Some owners ship their bike to the mountains and rent a cabin for a week. Spring and early fall are the busy windows. If you plan to ship the bike up and ride it home, book the return leg when you book the first.
Tip: Reporting to Bragg, Lejeune or Cherry Point?
The big installations are Fort Bragg at Fayetteville, Camp Lejeune at Jacksonville, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point at Havelock and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro. Include the base name when you request quotes, and ask each carrier about military pricing.
Tip: Prepare Your Motorcycle
Clean the bike, remove soft luggage and loose electronics, and run the tank down to roughly a quarter. Switch off the alarm, photograph every side with the date, and write down any leaks. If the bike was stored over winter, charge the battery and check the tire pressure before pickup. The full list is in how to prepare a motorcycle for transport.
Arizona to North Carolina Motorcycle Shipping Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to ship a motorcycle from Arizona to North Carolina?
Most Arizona to North Carolina shipments take 6-9 days once the bike is on the truck. Booking a pickup adds a few days, so figure one to two weeks from order to delivery.
How much does it cost to ship a motorcycle to North Carolina from Arizona?
A standard cruiser or sport bike from Phoenix to Raleigh runs about $750 to $1,050 on an open carrier and about $1,050 to $1,475 enclosed. Actual prices depend on your bike, dates and cities.
Is open or enclosed transport better for this route?
Open is the usual pick and suits most bikes. Enclosed makes sense for a new or custom machine, and for hurricane season on the coast. The extra cost is roughly $300 to $425.
Where in North Carolina do carriers deliver?
Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro and Asheville see the most bikes. Coastal and mountain towns are served too, with a wider window and a meeting point.
Can a carrier deliver on the Blue Ridge Parkway?
No. A driver will meet you in a nearby town on a regular highway. The Parkway limits commercial vehicles, and sections close for the season.
How should I prepare my motorcycle for shipping from Arizona?
Clean the bike, take off loose accessories and soft luggage, and leave about a quarter tank. Photograph each side with the date, note leaks, and mention a bike that does not run.
Should I ride my motorcycle from Arizona to North Carolina or ship it?
The ride is about 2,165 miles from Phoenix to Raleigh, which most riders cover in four long days. You would pay for fuel, hotel nights and tire wear. If you only need the bike in North Carolina, shipping it and flying is usually easier.
Do I need to crate my motorcycle for this trip?
Usually not. A properly secured bike reaches North Carolina on either type of trailer. Crating costs roughly $150 to $400 and mostly makes sense for rare machines.
Is door-to-door motorcycle delivery available from Arizona to North Carolina?
Usually yes. A driver comes to your Arizona address. In the North Carolina mountains, a steep road can stop a long trailer, and the driver will suggest a lot in the nearest town.
Can I call for a quote at any hour?
Yes. A person answers 1-800-590-6492 day or night, and the form on this page can bring back up to ten quotes.
