Texas to Utah Motorcycle Shipping Rates by Bike Type
A standard cruiser or sport bike from Dallas to Salt Lake City costs about $550 to $750 on an open carrier, or about $775 to $1,050 enclosed. From Houston the open range is near $600 to $825. St. George, in the southwest corner, comes to about $525 to $725 open from Dallas.
Distance sets most of the price. Utah is a destination state for mountain and desert riders, and trucks run into the Salt Lake area every day, so the Wasatch Front is easy for a carrier to reach.
A heavyweight touring model can raise the quote by $50 to $100. Three-wheelers and sidecar bikes bring a premium of around $150 to $300. Give the dispatcher a heads-up if the bike will not start, so the right gear shows up.
Season matters. Summer is busy for Texas departures and for Utah riding season, while winter snow in the mountains slows trucks on I-80 and I-70. A few spare days at pickup often lowers the quote. More ways to spend less are in our money-saving tips.

One Busy Strip and a Lot of Empty Desert
Most Utahns live on the Wasatch Front, a strip at the foot of the mountains. I-15 runs along it, linking Ogden, Salt Lake City, Provo and Orem, and I-80 brings in traffic from the east and west. A bike delivered anywhere on that strip is simple for a driver to reach.
South of Provo, I-15 continues to Cedar City and St. George. This corner is the warmest part of the state and the nearest to Zion, and it fits neatly with trucks already running between Las Vegas and Salt Lake City.
Southeastern Utah is the opposite. Moab, Arches and Canyonlands sit far from any interstate, along two-lane roads such as US 191, and the red rock country offers few places for a trailer to turn around. Carriers usually stop in Green River or Moab and leave the last miles to you.
Park City and the ski towns have steep, snowy streets in winter. The driver will often ask to meet at a lot in Kimball Junction or Heber City, and the final climb is yours.

How Your Motorcycle Is Loaded and Secured for the Trip
A good driver loads a motorcycle upright. The front wheel goes into a chock so it can't move, and soft straps go around solid points like the frame or the lower triple clamp. The straps are tightened enough to hold the bike but not so much that they bottom out the forks. Hooks stay off your bars, levers and paint.
Enclosed trailers add a roof and walls, and the trip northwest crosses plains wind, mountain cold and desert sun. Owners of custom paint and vintage bikes often pick enclosed for exactly that reason. Go through the report with the driver, adding any marks that are missing before you sign. Hold on to the paperwork and photos until the bike is delivered in Utah.
Texas to Utah Motorcycle Shipping Challenges & Tips
Utah is easy along the interstate and slower in the canyons and mountains.
Winter Mountain Snow
Storms can close canyon roads and slow I-80 and I-70, so a winter delivery can slip by a day or more.
Remote Canyon Roads
Moab and the southern parks are a long drive from the interstate, and a driver may add a day to reach them.
Salt Lake Winter Inversions
Cold air can trap smog and fog in the valley for days, and fog slows loading and traffic.
Tip: Riding Scenic Byway 12?
Highway 12 between Torrey and Bryce Canyon is one of the great motorcycle roads in the West. Many owners ship a bike to Salt Lake City or St. George and start the ride there.
Tip: Reporting to Hill Air Force Base?
Hill Air Force Base is next to Layton and Ogden, about 25 miles north of Salt Lake City. Ask for quotes when you get your report date, and ask each carrier about a military discount.
Tip: Prepare Your Motorcycle
Rinse the bike, take off anything that could shake loose, and hold the tank at roughly a quarter. Turn the alarm off, take dated pictures around the bike, and record leaks. If you live in a ski town or canyon, name the closest big parking lot so the driver can plan the handoff. Our preparation checklist goes through every step in order.
Texas to Utah Motorcycle Shipping Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to ship a motorcycle from Texas to Utah?
Most Texas to Utah shipments take 3-6 days once the bike is on the truck. Add the wait for a pickup and the whole job usually runs one to two weeks from order to delivery.
How much does it cost to ship a motorcycle to Utah from Texas?
A standard cruiser or sport bike from Dallas to Salt Lake City runs about $550 to $750 on an open carrier and about $775 to $1,050 enclosed. The cities and dates set the final price.
Is open or enclosed transport better for this route?
Open carries most bikes well. Enclosed is smart for a winter trip over snowy mountain passes or for a bike you cannot replace. The extra cost is roughly $225 to $300.
Where in Utah do carriers deliver?
Salt Lake City, Provo, Ogden and St. George see the most bikes. Park City, Logan and Moab are served too, though canyon towns may need a nearby meeting point.
Can a driver bring the bike to Moab or a national park?
Sometimes with a longer window. Moab is a long drive from the interstate, so many carriers meet in Green River or Moab itself and leave the last miles to you.
How should I prepare my motorcycle for shipping from Texas?
Give it a wash and remove soft luggage, then hold the tank at about a quarter. Date your photos on all sides, and point out any leak or a dead battery.
Should I ride my motorcycle from Texas to Utah or ship it?
The ride is about 1,250 miles from Dallas to Salt Lake City, which most riders cover in two long days. Desert and mountain miles take their toll. If you only need the bike in Utah, shipping it and flying is a reasonable option.
Do I need to crate my motorcycle for this trip?
In most cases no. A secured motorcycle gets to Utah on either trailer type. Crating runs roughly $150 to $400 and suits show bikes.
Is door-to-door motorcycle delivery available from Texas to Utah?
Frequently. A Texas pickup is straightforward. In Utah, a steep ski-town street or a canyon road can be too tight, so the driver may meet you in the valley below.
Can I call for a quote at any hour?
Yes. Ring 1-800-590-6492 at any time, or send the form and compare as many as ten offers.
