Arizona to Louisiana Motorcycle Shipping Rates by Bike Type
A standard cruiser or sport bike from Phoenix to New Orleans runs about $600 to $850 on an open carrier and about $850 to $1,200 enclosed. From Tucson it comes to about $575 to $800 open. Baton Rouge is a little closer, near $600 to $825.
I-10 is a busy freight road, and that helps. Plenty of carriers already run Phoenix to the Gulf Coast, so a bike headed for New Orleans or Baton Rouge usually finds a truck without a long wait.
Tourers such as the Gold Wing usually add $50 to $100. Trikes and sidecar rigs add $150 to $300. A bike that does not start needs a winch at both ends.
Storm season is the cost wildcard. From June through November, a hurricane warning can shut down deliveries and push prices up, so a bike booked for late summer needs a little slack. Spring and winter are calmer and usually cheaper. Our money-saving tips explain how to keep the cost down.
| Motorcycle Type | Open Transport (Est.) | Enclosed Transport (Est.) |

| Vintage / Custom (classic Triumph, bobber, chopper) | $650 – $950 | $900 – $1,325 |

Along I-10 to the Gulf Coast
The long part of this trip is Texas. Crossing it on I-10 takes more than a day, and then Louisiana adds water. I-10 runs over the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, about 18 miles of elevated roadway through swamp, and another stretch near New Orleans crosses Lake Pontchartrain on the Twin Span bridges.
I-12 loops north of the lake and links Baton Rouge to the Northshore and Slidell. I-49 runs north and south through Lafayette and Alexandria to Shreveport. A bike for north Louisiana usually takes I-20 from the Texas side instead, which is why Shreveport has its own price.
In New Orleans, the French Quarter and nearby streets are poor places for a tractor-trailer. The driver will probably suggest a lot in Metairie or Kenner, or on the west bank. Suburban addresses are easier, so mention yours.
Parts of south Louisiana flood fast in storms, and a delivery can be held a day or two. Give the driver a window and keep your phone handy.

3. Compare the offers

4. Choose your company
You pick the company you want to work with. Ask that company about its insurance coverage, deposit, and payment terms before you commit.
How Your Motorcycle Is Loaded and Secured for the Trip
A good driver loads a motorcycle upright. The front wheel goes into a chock so it can't move, and soft straps go around solid points like the frame or the lower triple clamp. The straps are tightened enough to hold the bike but not so much that they bottom out the forks. Hooks stay off your bars, levers and paint.
Enclosed trailers add a roof and walls, which counts for a lot when Gulf humidity and sudden downpours are part of the trip. Owners of custom paint and vintage bikes often pick enclosed for exactly that reason. At pickup, read the report with the driver and take dated photos of your own from all sides. Save them for the day the bike comes off the trailer in Louisiana.
Arizona to Louisiana Motorcycle Shipping Challenges & Tips
Louisiana weather and old street layouts cause most of the delays.
Hurricane Season
The season runs June 1 to November 30 and peaks around September 10. A storm can hold a truck for days, so avoid tight deadlines in late summer.
Tight Old Streets
Neighborhoods in New Orleans and Baton Rouge may not fit a full-size trailer. A nearby lot is the usual fix.
Humidity and Rain
Moisture matters for a bike that will wait in storage. Ask how the carrier covers a bike on an open trailer.
Tip: Time It Around the Storms
If your delivery date is fixed, aim for spring or winter, before hurricane season starts or after it ends. Request quotes at least three weeks ahead.
Tip: Reporting to Barksdale?
Barksdale Air Force Base is in Bossier City, next to Shreveport, and is home to the 2nd Bomb Wing. Ask carriers about a military discount and where they will deliver.
Tip: Prepare Your Motorcycle
Wash the bike, strip off saddlebags and electronics, and let the tank run to roughly a quarter. Silence the alarm, photograph every side with the date, and note any leaks. A dark seat gets hot on an open trailer, and a cover for delivery day takes little effort. The prep checklist for motorcycle transport covers the rest.
Arizona to Louisiana Motorcycle Shipping Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to ship a motorcycle from Arizona to Louisiana?
Most Arizona to Louisiana shipments take 4-8 days once the bike is on the truck. Scheduling adds a few days, so plan on one to two weeks from booking to delivery.
How much does it cost to ship a motorcycle to Louisiana from Arizona?
A standard cruiser or sport bike from Phoenix to New Orleans runs about $600 to $850 on an open carrier and about $850 to $1,200 enclosed. Real prices depend on your bike, dates and cities.
Is open or enclosed transport better for this route?
Most riders choose open. Enclosed is worth the money for a classic, fresh paint, a high-value bike or hurricane season. The extra cost is roughly $250 to $350.
Where in Louisiana do carriers deliver?
Most bikes go to New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Shreveport. Smaller towns are served too, and a bayou or rural address may need a meeting point.
Does hurricane season stop motorcycle shipping?
Not outright, but a storm can delay a delivery or close a road for days. If you ship between June and November, leave extra time and ask each carrier how it handles weather holds.
How should I prepare my motorcycle for shipping from Arizona?
Wash the bike, take off saddlebags and mounts, and hold the fuel near a quarter tank. Photograph it from all sides with the date, and report leaks or a non-runner.
Should I ride my motorcycle from Arizona to Louisiana or ship it?
The ride is about 1,525 miles from Phoenix to New Orleans, which most riders cover in three long days. Fuel, hotels and tires add up, and the bike takes every mile. If you only need it in Louisiana, shipping it and flying is often easier.
Do I need to crate my motorcycle for this trip?
Typically no. A properly secured bike makes the trip to Louisiana on either kind of trailer. Crating adds roughly $150 to $400 and is worth it mostly for rare machines.
Is door-to-door motorcycle delivery available from Arizona to Louisiana?
Most of the time. Pickups in Phoenix and Tucson are routine. In south Louisiana, a levee road may be too narrow, and the driver will suggest a gas station or large lot.
Can I call for a quote at any hour?
Yes. 1-800-590-6492 is open every hour of the day, and the quote form on this page works too.
